I don't have a kiln and I can't afford one. I just got some modeling clay and I like to make pottery, but when I've made it before I used someone else's kiln and it is not available right now.
No. You can't use your kitchen oven to fire ceramics. You need at least 1800°F to fire the lowest firing ceramics (That's cone 06).
The hottest your kitchen oven would get is ~900°F on the self-clean cycle. You will dry things out and burn out all the stuff that makes clay pliant without creating any of the bonds that make it a ceramic.
Although Pottery Plus closed its doors this week after 13 years in business, those who love the store will see much of the same inventory at a new store opening Friday. New River Pottery bought the remainder of Pottery Plus’ products and will sell them at the new store.

CASEY — To help celebrate the Casey Antique Centre’s six-year anniversary, visitors to the Centre in Casey on Saturday and Sunday will be treated to a special exhibit of Anna-Kirkpatrick pottery sponsored by the Anna-Kirkpatrick Pottery Museum, located in Anna. The pottery exhibit will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
